conditioning system under a sizzling hot early summer has forced girl students at a high school in Madina to skip classes Wednesday. The system has been broken since Saturday, but the school has failed to fix it, one student's father claimed. The students at the 19th Girls High School in Madina experienced an unhealthy education environment for a week because of the hot weather and poor ventilation. “We could not focus on the classes,” the student told her father, who requested anonymity. Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Muhammad said that poor ventilation in crowded areas such as classrooms can spread contagious viral diseases like the flu, especially in hot weather. Director of the Girls Education Department in Madina, Yousef Al-Faqi, was not available for comment.
