The Jeddah Mayoralty has drained 20 million cubic meters of floodwater from the precautionary dam, dropping the water level to just 195 centimeters - equal to one million cubic meters. A report issued by the mayoralty estimated that the quantity of the water pumped daily from the precautionary dam at between 170,000 and 185,000 cubic meters. About 150,000 cubic meters was pumped daily into the sea and the rest was pumped through a pipeline to the southern floodwater canal. The report showed that on Nov. 25 last year, a lake was formed in front of the precautionary dam because of the floods that hit Jeddah. The lake was 5 kilometers in length and a height of 15 meters while the precautionary dam was 18 meters high.
