Ghufais, the governor of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), has said that partnerships have been established with a wide range of industrial sectors to help address the needs of the labor market and increase prospects for TVTC graduates. According to Al-Ghufais, TVTC has been working to forge links with companies and organizations of various sizes in the petroleum and plastics industries, as well as in maintenance and operations, retail sales and small business ventures. “TVTC will continue to send Saudis abroad, including 2,000 male and female trainees, who will go to advanced countries for training through the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Scholarship Program,” Al-Ghufais said. He said that the recent Employment Forum, the second of its kind held by TVTC, focused on introducing “professional standards to improve the quality of the labor market” and the means of Saudization. “The forum looked at how to unify policies and at efforts to Saudize jobs and how best to benefit from development projects in terms of creating jobs for Saudis,” he said. “The forum facilitated the creation of more partnerships and greater cooperation with public and private organizations than the previous forum.” TVTC, Al-Ghufais said, plans to open five new institutes per year with increased female training as part of its expansion plans. “Fourteen higher institutes out of 39 that have received approval are already open,” he said. “Sites for the 39 institutes are located across the country taking into consideration population density.”
