Police bust sex slave network, rape suspects arrested

A young Indonesian woman has told police about the horror of being abducted from her flat and allegedly raped by two men.
The woman, who is an illegal resident, said her ordeal started when she heard a knock on her door late one night. When she opened the door, two men forced their way into her flat pretending that they were policemen and were going to take her to a detention center.
Instead they took her to another house where they locked her up for two days and took turns sexually assaulting her, she claims.
They finally released her, but threatened they would hurt her if she went to the police. The woman, however, went straight to the Jeddah police and reported the incident.
After interrogating the two men, the police started an investigation which led them to three other men, of Arab nationality, who were holding seven Indonesian women in a flat as sex slaves.
The information gathered by the police showed that an Asian man was involved in preventing the women from escaping from the flat in return for sexual favors.
The information collected by the team also showed that the three men were implicated in other similar crimes. They would prey on Asian women who stayed in the country illegally after performing Umrah.
The men would break into the women's homes and threaten to harm them if they told anyone.
An investigating team, under the supervision of investigating officer Major General Ali Al-Ghamdi and an assistant director, assigned a number of undercover police officers to arrest the men. The team raided the flat, released the hostages and arrested four men – the three Arabs and one Asian man.
Colonel Mesfir Al-Juaid, spokesman of the Jeddah police, confirmed that the women victims had identified the men as their assailants.
He said the fingerprints of one of the alleged rapists proved that he was involved in several other crimes.
