Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, the Emir of Makkah, says the King's order for a comprehensive plan for east Jeddah is a huge boost for development in the area. Prince Khaled made the remarks while presiding over a meeting set up to oversee the development. “This part of the governorate should be planned in a modern way to suit the development of the entire area,” he said. Prince Khaled was briefed by the Jeddah Mayoralty on the proposed development, including the schedule for launching the project, the opening and extending of the flood canals and the removal of all obstacles hampering its progress. While chairing the second session of the Executive Committee of the Authority for the Development of Makkah, Prince Khaled stressed the leadership's determination to solve all the problems that may hinder the development of the Holy City; and to preserve the rights of the owners of the properties which will be included in Makkah's development plan. Prince Khaled had discussions about organizational and developmental issues with the members. The committee also adopted a number of recommendations in this regard. The meeting was attended by Prince Misha'l Bin Majed Bin Abdul Aziz, the Governor of Jeddah; Adel Fakeih, Mayor of Jeddah; Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Khaidari, Undersecretary at the Makkah emirate; and Dr. Sami Berhmain, Secretary of the Authority for the Development of Makkah.
