Manarat Jeddah has emerged overall champion of the In 10 So Olympic Games which was held at the Serafi Mega Mall here. The event was sponsored by Abdul Latif Jameel Company-Toyota Yaris, Mobil 1 and Bridgestone and it was held under the supervision of Youth Social Development Committee. In all, 13 private schools took part in the games which saw competitions in karting, archery, climbing, bowling and boxing. Dar Al-Marefa and Riyadh Al-Qur'an schools took the second and third places respectively. The remaining seven places went to Al-Aqsa, Al-Angal, Al-Thaghr, Dar Al-Zekr, Jeel Al-Faisal (Al-Gamah), Dar Al-Bayan and Al-Nasr. Award winners in different disciplines were the following: Dart: 1. Al-Anjal, 2. Jeel Al-Faisal, 3. Manarat Jeddah . Climbing wall: 1. Dar Al-Fikr, 2. Al-Nasr, 3. Al-Anjal. Boxing: 1. Jeel Al-Faisal, 2. Al-Anjal, 3. Jeel Al-Faisal. Pooling: 1. Dar Al-Bayan, 2. Thagr Jeddah, 3. Manarat Jeddah. Karting: 1. Dar Al-Zekr, 2. Dar Al-Bayan, 3. Manarat Jeddah. Abdullah Bakhashab, the organizer of the Olympic Games, was elated after the successful conduct of the games for schools. He thanked schools representatives for their support and their participation in the competitions. “The aim behind these competitions is to create an awareness among the students about these sports activities which they can very well develop. It will lead the talented students to attain individual honors and also honors for their country. It may even lead them to become professionals in their respective fields. We are ready to help develop their talent through intensive training which will give them the chance to participate inside and outside the country,” said Bakhashab. Representatives from the sponsors graced the final ceremony and awarded the winners – trophy for the overall champion and other prizes for individual winners. The sponsors specially thanked the school authorities for participating in the games and utilizing the occasion for the benefit of the youth through interaction and competition. It is also helpful for the students to use the spare time for developing their skills in sports. They also appreciated the organizers for conducting a successful event. The school Olympics was first held in April 2006 with the participation of many private schools. __
