Saudi Arabia drew with Nigeria 0-0 in a friendly match at Alpen stadium in the Austrian city of Wattens Tuesday. Portuguese coach of the Saudi national team, Jose Peseiro made six replacements in the second half to give more exposure to his players. On the other side, Nigeria, which will take part in the World Cup in South Africa, fielded its full string. Though Saudi players put up a fine performance its strikers Ahmed Abbas and Mohanned Aseeri could not threaten the Nigerian goal. Neither their replacements Naïf Hazzazi and Sultan Al-Numari did anything better. Other players who played for the national team for the first time were striker Aseeri, midfielder Yahiya Al-Shihri and Alaa Raishani. The absence of Saudi strikers Yasser Al-Qahtani, who has recently undergone a shoulder surgery, and Nasser Al-Shamrani was noticeable. The Saudi national team has played three friendly matches so far. In the first encounter, it lost to Congo 1-2 while it won the second friendly against Congo 2-0. The national team will play another match against Spain Saturday.
