Atta-Ur Rehman, Adnan, Riyaz shine

XI defeated JCA Select-XI in a match between selected players from the 42 registered teams of the Jeddah Cricket Association.
The highlights of the match were a brilliant unbeaten knock of 91 runs by Adnan of the winning team and an equally fine 89 not out by Atta-Ur Rehman of losing side.
Batting first, JCA Select-XI made 238-8 in 30 overs. Opener Syed Kaleem made a useful 56. Though the middle order could not impress Abid Parvez managed to score 33 and Uzair Khan made 17. But all-rounder Atta-Ur Rehman stabilized things by making 89 off 48 balls with 6 sixes and 7 fours. Fakhar took 3-41. Jaweed and Muhammad Umar Swadi grabbed two each.
In reply, President's-XI reached 239-4 in 28 overs. The dashing opener Mohammad Umar Swadi managed just 19, the other opener Abdul Rauf Memon fell for 5 and Athar Ali also failed as he made 15. But Shahid 37 and Mohammad Riyaz 52 supported the middle order batsman Adnan who scored an unbeaten 91 off 43 balls with 8 sixes and two boundaries. He was also rotating the strike with smart singles and doubles with Mohammad Riyaz.
They put up 144 runs for the sixth wicket which steered the Presidents-XI home. Left-arm spinner Faheem took two wickets while Amer and Hamid Bakth got one each.
Urdu News Sports Editor Zafar Iqbal, who represented Tariq Mishkhas, Editor-in-Chief Urdu News, was given a plaque of appreciation by JCA President Mohammad Iqbal. JCA President's-XI captain Majid Bhatti received the cup from Mohammad Ashraf Chowdry, General Manager Al-Harazi Est. for Trading & Contracting. Best performance awards were given to Adnan, Atta-Ur Rehman, Mohammad Riyaz and Syed Kaleem for their excellent performance. __
