Syrian Foreign Minister Waleed Al-Mu'alem has said that commitment of members of the OIC's Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) to last year's important decisions is weak. “Even if there are some reservations by some delegations but all the decisions are binding after approving them in the session,” said Waleed. Talking to the SG after the opening of the OIC's 37 session of the CFM, he said that despite being a regional event, the CFM has 57 members, which can play a major role in the decision-making process at the United Nations. The head of the Saudi delegation, Dr. Nizar Ebaid Madani, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, said in his speech that the OIC's role is reliable to the members obligation to the decisions made in its CFM sessions. He said that all member states must respect all the decisions made during these sessions. If there are reservations over some decision, he added, saying that the issue should be thoroughly debated so as to achieve unanimity on various international forums. He said that the biggest challenge that the Islamic world is facing is the growing differences and conflicts between the states. Madani said that it was high time we review the situation and chalk out a plan of action to resolve all lingering issues.
