The Council of Ministers will handle the investigation into former Jeddah mayors linked to last year's flood disaster because this is the disciplinary body that has to deal with such high-ranking officials. A source confirmed that the Cabinet is the authorized government body to take legal action against high-ranking officials, form a special disciplinary investigation committee, or delegate another government authority to investigate them. The Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution (BIP) and the Control and Investigation Board (CIB) will deal with other officials and businessmen linked to flood-related corruption, fraud and abuse of power in the city, according to the source. The CIB office in Jeddah has put together a high-caliber investigating team to pursue charges against the flood-accused starting Sunday. The team is headed by Dr. Saad Bin Kulaib. Investigators at the Jeddah CIB office on the Madina Road were seen Saturday organizing files and assigning separate hearing rooms for the accused ahead of the official investigation.
