Umar Khan Alisherzai, the Ambassador of Pakistan, opened the doors for the enhancement of education between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia by inaugurating at Jeddah famous Effat University a “Pakistan Corner.” Dr. Haifa Rida Jamal, the President of Effat University, and Raniya Ibrahim, the dean of the students affairs, welcomed the idea of enhancing the cultural and educational relationship between the two countries. Pakistan International School Jeddah under the guidance of Akmal Saeed, Link Officer and Consul CA, organized the “Pakistan corner” with the aim to promote Pakistan and educate people of Saudi Arabia about the culture and heritage of Pakistan. “I think it is a great job as the students of this university will be benefited with this corner, understand and will come to know more about Pakistan history, culture, traditions. It will be a great source of education for them. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia has unique time-tested relationship. We are proud of our fraternal relationship with Saudi Arabia,” said Umar Khan Alisherzai, the Ambassador. Ranya Ibrahim said that it was a great opportunity for them to have the corner of Pakistan in Effat University. “Pakistan is not a new name for us. We already have a number of Pakistani students studying in different departments of our university,” she said. “W have hosted this corner for many reasons. As we cherish our values, diversity and encourage multi-cultural communication, with this corner of Pakistan we will offer our students a rich background and enhance the relationship between the two countries' students. The corner also promotes and enhances research, which is something that we are trying to foster especially on the undergraduate leve,” said Raniya . Teachers, students and directors of different departments requested for the links and names of prominent universities in Pakistan . “We want the relationship in all the fields on economic, cultural, education level. Invitation is open to all students and faculties to visit Pakistan,” said Alisherzai. Effat University faculty requested Pakistan community members to financially help Pakistani students in the university through scholarships. Raniya Ibrahim offered journalism and media course for the students of PISJ and said that Pakistani students are pride of their university. Abdul Salik Khan, the CG of Pakistan, said that the Pakistan consulate was preparing a website where they will put the names of all Pakistani universities and their links for the conveniences of students. “Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have strong brotherly ties and cordial relations. To further strengthen these relations it is imperative to provide information about Pakistan to the common people, intellectuals and academicians of Saudi Arabia,” said Saher Kamran, the principal of PISJ. “To implement this idea a project has been launched to establish “Pakistan Corners” in Saudi colleges and universities to educate Arab students about history, geography, civilization, cultural heritage and social norms of Pakistan and provide information about its economic growth, tourism, educational facilities, institutions, development and products,” she said.
