The Directorate of Health Affairs in Taif has banned a doctor from traveling until investigations are completed into claims he caused the death of a patient by prescribing the wrong medication. The files of the patient, from Bilad Rabee' Health Center in the southern part of the governorate and from the hospital where he died, were referred to the Followup Department at the Taif Directorate of Health Affairs. The probe was launched last week. Dr. Abdulrahman Kurkman, Director of Health Affairs in Taif, said the investigation into the death of Saudi national Saleem Al-Rabi'iy is ongoing. Al-Rabi'iy's family believes that he was prescribed incorrect medication by the doctor, causing a relapse after his release from hospital and finally resulting in his death. Investigations by the followup authorities will be released in the coming few days. The Internal Committee formed by the Taif Directorate of Health Affairs has started investigating the doctor who treated the patient during his hospitalization at the health facility. The committee also studied the patient's file and the medicines he was prescribed prior to his release from hospital.
