South Africa beat West Indies by one run to win its two-match Twenty20 series 2-0 Friday after an exciting final over. South Africa could only make 120 for seven on a tricky track at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium with 20-year-old debutant David Miller making 33 from 26 balls and Johan Botha 23 from 22 as it recovered from 59 for five. Jerome Taylor did the damage for West Indies with a spell of three for 14 from his four overs including the wickets of skipper Graeme Smith (15) and fellow opener Loots Bosman. The home side suffered an early setback when its skipper Chris Gayle was trapped leg before by Dale Steyn without scoring. Opener Andre Fletcher went for four before Dwayne Bravo and Shivnarine Chanderpaul put on 68 but at less than six runs per over. However a late run-flurry put West Indies in with a chance, largely thanks to smart batting from Darren Sammy. With 15 needed off the last over, bowled by Ryan McLaren, Sammy scrambled a two, edged a four and then ran four, with two overthrows, as South Africa appeared to lose its composure. But Narsingh Deonarine was run out attempting a two leaving Jerome Taylor to face the final ball with three to win - a wide full toss which Taylor chased but could only poke for a single, leaving his team short of the target. Earlier the 20-year-old left-hander Miller, playing in his first international match, came to the rescue of the Proteas after the West Indies' bowlers exploited an uneven pitch to floor the South Africans on 59 for five in the 13th over. But Miller added 57 with Johan Botha, whose 23 from 22 balls included two sixes, to add some respectability to the Proteas' total. Jerome Taylor was the most successful West Indies bowler with flattering figures of three wickets for 14 runs from his allotment of four overs, and Darren Sammy captured two for 16 from his four overs. The South Africans were under early pressure, when Taylor had Loots Bosman caught behind down the leg-side for a duck in the second over, and then bowled Proteas captain Graeme Smith for 15 to leave the visitors 27 for two in the sixth over. South Africa slipped into further trouble, when Abraham de Villiers was caught at backward point off Sammy fending a short ball while taking evasive action from a delivery that exploded from the untrustworthy surface. Things got worse when Jean-Paul Duminy was caught behind for 13 in the 12th over, and Alviro Petersen was lbw to Sulieman Benn for eight in the 13th over. But man of the match Botha joined Miller, and they pulled South Africa out of danger before they were both dismissed in the final over trying to gain precious late runs. South Africa had been forced to include Miller and Lonwabo Tsotsobe for the injured pair of Jacques Kallis and Charl Langeveldt, while Morne Morkel replaced left-arm spinner Roelof van der Merwe. West Indies brought Shivnarine Chanderpaul in to replace Nikita Miller in the only change to its lineup. The South African tour of the Caribbean continues Saturday with the first of five One-Day Internationals. – Agencies Scoreboard South Africa Smith b Taylor 15 Bosman c Fletcher b Taylor 00 De Villiers c Bravo b Sammy 19 Duminy c Fletcher b Sammy 13 Petersen lbw b Benn 08 Miller run out (Fletcher/Taylor) 33 Botha c Sarwan b Taylor 23 McLaren not out 02 Extras (b1, lb4, w2) 07 Total (7 wkts) 120 Did not bat: M.
