After a three-year delay, Airbus delivered to Deutsche Lufthansa AG its first A380 superjumbo, a commercial aircraft that can carry more than 520 passengers. Germany's biggest airline said the first of its 15 A380s will be put in service from June 11, flying from Frankfurt to Tokyo. The plane cost ¤300 million ($370 million). Lufthansa also unveiled on Wednesday its new, world's quietest, First Class, as it accepted delivery of its first Airbus A380 in Frankfurt, Germany. The new First Class experience has been developed in close collaboration with Lufthansa passengers. Measuring 2.07 meters in length and 80 centimeters in width, the new First Class cabin offers “the Best Bed in Class” - it is the widest most comfortable bed with plenty of room, enabling passengers to enjoy deep, relaxing sleep. From the research, Lufthansa identified ‘a quiet and peaceful atmosphere' as one of the most important needs of its First Class customers. As a result, sound-absorbing curtains have been developed and installed to partition off the rest of the cabin, while special sound- insulating material in the aircraft's outer skin and sound-absorbing carpeting blocks footstep noise, ensuring the world's quietest First Class cabin. “The A380 offers our passengers a first-rate travel experience. The dimensions of the Airbus A380 and its flight characteristics make traveling on this aircraft a truly unique experience. In all three travel classes, our passengers can enjoy the ultimate in comfort. The exceptional and exclusive First Class concept, which was designed according to our passengers' wishes and needs, is particularly impressive,” said Thierry Antinori, member of the Lufthansa German Airlines Board responsible for Marketing and Sales, at the presentation of the new First Class in Frankfurt, Germany. The new First Class also boasts of a more open space and light, more comfort and more entertainment options, all developed by Lufthansa Technik, the world's leading provider of aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul. __
