School janitors, the Civil Defense and the Riyadh Mayor's Office were all alerted after a snake slithered its way into a girls' primary school in the west of Riyadh on Monday. Princess Huda Aal Ayyaf, Educational Affairs Assistant Director at Riyadh's Education Administration, confirmed the sighting of the serpent. “We received notice from the school and so alerted maintenance staff to check the situation, and we also called the Civil Defense which carried out a search at the premises,” Princess Huda said. Officials, however, failed to locate the snake in classrooms or in the playground, and the Mayor's Office was contacted to have the campus sprayed with pesticide. “Classes continued as per normal until the end of the day after ensuring that all safety measures had been taken to protect pupils and staff,” Princess Huda said.
