Qahtani, the president of the National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) has said that the organization is following up with the Ministry of Interior complaints from relatives of prisoners held over security-related issues. “We study and handle directly every case of suspected injustice and look into the extent of any breaches in that respect,” said Al-Qahtani of the complaints directed at government bodies. Al-Qahtani said that the NSHR had received “dozens” of cases brought officially by the relatives concerning rights to medical attention, family visits, placement of prisoners in facilities far from their families' residences, access to lawyers and documents of evidence, as well as material aid to prisoners' families. “The NSHR handles each case separately,” he said. “We have the cooperation of the relevant officials at the Ministry of Interior concerning all the complaints and cases, and there will be talks and discussions to overcome the difficulties involved.”
