The National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) has called for the creation of an “Honesty and Anti-corruption Commission” linked to the Council of Ministers, to monitor government projects. In a statement issued Saturday, it said the commission should play a supporting role for other supervisory bodies to protect the state's funds and eliminate corruption. The society has lauded the King's order and decisions aimed at fighting corruption. It also welcomed the King's order that all those who were involved in Jeddah's flood disaster should face prosecution. It said the King's order reflects his determination that justice should take its course regardless of the status of those involved. The society also stressed the importance of enabling control bodies such as the General Auditing Bureau (GAB) and the Control and Investigation Bureau (CIB) to carry out their duties by supplying them with the necessary staff and funds.
