University students, particularly those who are due to graduate this year, will have an opportunity to explore their employment opportunities during the Annual Career Day, a three-day event which started here Monday at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. Over 100 government and private companies and institutions – local, regional and international – will offer employment and training opportunities to university students, according to Dr. Misfer Al-Zahrani, chairman of the organizing committee. “The KFUPM Annual Career Day, now in its 27th year, introduces students to companies offering job opportunities and identifies the university's areas of study that the companies are interested in,” Al-Zahrani said during the opening of the event, which is being held under the patronage of Prince Muhammad Bin Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz, Emir of the Eastern Province. During the event, companies will provide presentations and lectures on the job opportunities they offer, requirements for employment, compensation, training programs, and incentive packages, such as housing and health insurance. The organizing committee, in a press release, stated that the Career Day will help students choose the specialization that suits their abilities and the needs of the Saudi labor market. “Basically, the event provides university graduates with information about available job opportunities, training programs, and career advancement, and it will help establish a cooperative partnership between the university and the job market,” Al-Zahrani said. Among the participating companies are Saudi Aramco, the affiliated companies of the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), Marafiq, Saudi Electricity Company, Saudi Railway Organization, Ma'aden, Saudi Ports Authorities, the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, banks, and leading industrial companies.
