We have traffic signals to control and regulate traffic. We also have pedestrian signals for pedestrians, but unfortunately they don't work. In Jeddah's Aziziyah district there are two major schools – International Indian School and Pakistan International School. Thousands of students study in these schools. While many go via school or private transport, many others (in hundreds) walk to school. During school hours, there is so much of hustle and bustle. Roads are packed with cars and school buses. Children who have to walk to school find it quite difficult. They are left in dangerous situations at times. Without pedestrian signals, children do not know when it is safe to cross the road. They may cross thinking it is safe, but a car may suddenly come. And this happens quite often. I request concerned authorities to fix the pedestrian signals and to do something to protect the lives of pedestrians, especially school
