As the extensive manhunt for the killers of police constable in old city of Hyderabad over the last two days has failed to make progress. In an extraordinary move the City Police commissioner A K Khan has announced a cash reward of Rs500,000 for any useful information about the assailants.
Andhra Pradesh Special Police constable U Ramesh was shot dead by three scooter borne suspected terrorists in Shah Ali Banda area of old city on Friday last.
In a statement, commissioner Khan said that evidence available at the crime scene indicates that an organization Thereek Ghlba-e-Islam has claimed the responsibility for the act.
“Same organization claimed responsibility for killing a Home Guard in Falaknuma limits last year on May 18 as well. Police have registered a case and the investigation was taken over by the Special Investigation Team. Police teams have began investigation and started questioning the suspects”, he said.
While police were pursuing all the leads available to them, it was equally important that all the citizens should share their valuable information with the police about the assailants as well as about their future plans, he said.
“These assailants could be living in your localities under pseudo name, moving suspiciously, taking shelter in hotels/lodges or any place of public gathering and so on”, Khan said. Any person or persons, who provide information that leads to detection and apprehension of the accused responsible for this act, will be rewarded with Rs. 5 lakhs by the Police Department immediately. The details of those who give information will be treated as top secret and will never be shared with anyone, Khan said.
Those having any information can call 9700405060 or SMS at 9010100100 or email at [email protected].
Meanwhile the investigators were also busy preparing the sketch of the suspects on the basis of the eyewitness account. But the fact that they had covered their faces was making the job difficult.
On the other hand the police were also questioning more than 20 youth picked up from different localities of Hyderabad. One of them Mohammed Rayeesuddin was let off after a few hours of questioning. Rayees was earlier arrested by the police after Mecca Masjid blast but the court had acquitted him.
