120 students at the Girls' Science College in Makkah were evacuated on Wednesday after poisonous fumes began emanating from a laboratory. An internal report by the college said that the incident, which resulted in no casualties, could have occurred due to a fault in gas fittings in the laboratory's piping following recent maintenance. Civil Defense contained the site and evacuated students, and also praised safety standards at the facility. “The safety measures in place at the college greatly helped in containing the leak, conducting a swift evacuation and dealing with the incident,” an official said.
