Pakistan International School Jeddah-English Section (PISJ-ES) remained unbeaten and won the Inter-School Under 14 Cricket Championship for Johnson Control and Contraco Cup which was organized by Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) here. PISJ-ES defeated Al-Beladi International School in the final by nine wickets. Hala International School stood third after beating Corniche International School . The championship was sponsored by Johnson Control and Contraco Group of Companies. Farrukh Shahbaz of Johnson Control and Qadir Malik of Contraco graced the final and awarded the prizes. After put into bat in the final, Al-Beladi International School piled up 141-9 in the allotted 15 overs as Hassan stroked a magnificent 60 in 27 balls with one six and 6 fours. He was supported by Muteeb (32 in 31 balls), Umar (15 in 9 balls, 2 boundaries) and Sayam (13). Hassan of PISJ-ES chocked the lower middle order of Al-Beladi by taking a fantastic hat trick in his third over to finish with the figures of 3-26. Habib claimed 2-27 while Asif, Saleh and Yahya got one each for 17, 23 and 27 runs respectively. PISJ-ES openers responding to the challenging total batted with determination and aggression to achieve the target in 13.4 overs by losing just one wicket. Furkan remained unbeaten on 52 off 32 balls with 3 fours. His partner Ismail was run out for 58 (34 balls, 8 fours). One down Hassan chipped in with 10-ball 19 with 3 boundaries. In the match for the third place, Corniche International School using the track first made 119-9 as none of the batsmen could sustain to the accurate bowling of Areeb (2-20), Wasey (2-22), Saad (1-21) and Saad Salman (1-25). In reply, Hala was home with 120-6 in 14.2 overs. Rafey held one end with fine display of batsmanship for 45 in 26 balls with 3 fours. Talha assisted him with a 17-ball 21. Abdul Wasey contributed 11 (2 fours). Bilal Javed of Corniche bowled well to take 3-25 and Omer Khan got 2-20 and Mohsin Waris 1-23. Individual awards: Best Batsman – Hassan Iftikhar of Al-Beladi, 193 runs; best bowler – Habib of PISJ, 8-82; Man of the Semifinals – Habib of PISJ, 3-14 and Sayam of Al-Beladi, 54 runs; Man of the Final – Furkan of PISJ, 52 not out; hat trick – Hassan Jamil of PISJ. All the participating schools were given plaques and all the players who took part in the competition were presented with Certificate of Excellence. __
