Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAA) announced Tuesday the resumption of its flights to the US after a two-day suspension because of weather conditions. Abdullah Al-Ajhar, SAA Assistant Director for Public Relations, said the first flight left Washington at noon Tuesday to Jeddah en route to Riyadh after weather conditions improved. All other scheduled flights would also resume, he said. “Passengers can now make their bookings through our call centers or the company's website,” Al-Ajhar said. On Monday, SAA announced the suspension of all its flights to and from the United States due to the impact of clouds of volcanic ash on the Middle East and US route. However, the operation of other airlines to the US from Saudi Arabia was unaffected. “According to our system everything is smooth and all flights are on schedule,” Sayed Vasiq, a travel agent, told Saudi Gazette. British Airways, which operates four flights from Jeddah and five from Riyadh to New York every week, also confirmed that its flights were on schedule. “Our flights from Jeddah and Riyadh fly to London and then to New York. We haven't canceled our flights for any reason. All flights from Saudi Arabia are on time,” said Rojoy Vargnese, a British Airways staff member in Jeddah.
