The District Court in Jeddah has sentenced a 24-year-old man to six months in prison and 300 lashes of the whip for stealing sheep. The court heard how a cattle breeder recognized his own stolen animals for sale at a market and was informed by the seller that he had bought them from another cattle salesman. Police were called in and under questioning the suspect confessed to having stolen the sheep, saying that he had been “unable to find work”. The 300 lashes will be administered at intervals of 50.
