The Asharqia Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Eastern Province is expanding its support programs to train government employees and volunteer workers in non-government organizations (NGOs). Providing job training and imparting skills are the new thrusts of the chamber, according to Adnan A. Al-Naeim, the Asharqia Chamber's secretary general. “The chamber is looking for partnership in providing training for all – in civil as well as private entities – in activities that aim to provide excellent services through systemic programs,” he said. The Asharqia Chamber concluded last week the first session of a series of training programs for employees of the King Fahd International Airport (KFIA). The training was conducted by specialists and dealt with various skills required by airport employees, particularly the management and handling of airport passengers in both the departure and arrival areas. The training was focused on making KFIA an airport of excellence in customer service. The KFIA training will be long-term, consisting of six training sessions for 150 Saudi employees, all on enhancing customer service and applying the University of Cambridge customer service syllabus, according to Al-Naeim. The training is conducted in both English and Arabic. Al-Naeim said the current KFIA training program on customer relations follows a short training program held last November after the signing of an agreement between the chamber and KFIA management. The Asharqia Chamber recently signed an agreement with the Social Development Commission, an NGO, in Al-Rawdah neighborhood in Dammam, to provide training and skills related to handling social problems presented by the public. The agreement was signed between Al-Naeim and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al-Khamees, head of the Social Development Commission. The training program will be extended to both male and female staff of the NGO agency.
