The DCA League Champion Trophy for the year 2008 will be again sponsored by Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo. This was announced at the DCA annual prize distribution ceremony recently. During the awarding ceremony Shireesh Nadkar, Deputy General Manager, Oil and Gas Division, appreciated the efforts of DCA committee members. DCA now has over 30 registered teams to play the league and other tournaments for the year 2008. In the first match, Strickers XI defeated Fighters Cricket Club by 74 runs. Batting first, Strickers openers Shamil and Rahman contributed 33 runs. Soon Strickers lost two more wickets and were 37-4. The middle order batsmen too failed and they slumped to 53-7. In the final overs, Shamil and Ali batted aggressively and contributed 45 valuable runs to take final tally to 136. On chase, Fighters frontline batsmen batted poorly and was bowled out for 62. For Strickers, Shamil bowled superbly to capture 4 wickets. In the second match, KCC Knights defeated SFC by 184 runs. Knights' opener Rehman and Imran hammered SFC bowlers to contribute 130 for the second wicket. After the departure of Rahman (58), Imran further punished SFC bowlers and soon achieved his maiden century to remain not out on 122. The team tallied 227. KCC Knights bowled superbly to win match by 184 runs. Saleem, Rehman and Nawaz claimed 2 wickets each. Mohammedd Dossary Hospitals (MDH) defeated Al-Barrak by 40 runs in the third Match. MDH opted to bat first. After the loss of first wicket, Nazeem and opener Mazhar batted steadily and contributed 68 runs for second wicket. Nazeem further accelerated the score with the support of middle order batsmen to post a total of 163 runs. Nazeem made 58. On the chase Al-Barrak lost its first wicket in the first over. Sarfraz too fell soon. Jameel and Farhan then batted steadily and crossed the 50 mark in the 9th over. As the middle order batsmen too failed it lost the match by 40 runs. In the fourth match, current champion Blue Star outplayed Falcon CC by 120 runs. Bluestar opener Munna and one down Iqbal batted marvelously and crossed the 50-run mark in the 7th over. Then, Iqbal and Tapas batted diligently to add 72 runs in just 6 overs. Bluestar finally set a target of 208 for Falcon CC. I reply, Falcon openers Riyas and Shehab batted steadily and made 35 runs. After the loss of the openers in a quick succession, Falcon batting order tumbled and was bowled out in the 12th over. __
