Malaysia Airlines flew its inaugural flight from Dammam to Kuala Lumpur via Dubai yesterday (Thursday), marking the airline's second service in Saudi Arabia, complementing the airline's existing four times weekly Jeddah-Kuala Lumpur service. The new flight was launched by Bernard Francis, Malaysia Airlines' senior general manager, Sales and Marketing. The ceremony held at the Dammam King Fahd International Airport was graced by Malaysia Ambassador to Saudi Arabia associate. Professor Syed Omer Al Saggaf. Francis said “Malaysia Airlines has been bringing Malaysians to the Middle East and vice versa for more than 30 years. “The opening of Dammam as a new destination will further strengthen Malaysia Airlines' presence in the Middle East. The demand for the region has been steady with 40 percent of the load coming from the Dammam. “To develop awareness in this new destination and expand the market, we have invested SR7.2 million into the route. We are committed to grow Dammam as a key Middle East destination for Malaysia Airlines,” he said.
