XI underlined its supremacy in Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA) Tournaments by thrashing Barracuda ICC by 69 runs in the final of the JCA Premier League Championship to bag the Kanoo Cup. Hijaz-XI, which is sponsored by M/S Fatima Al-Aqqad Est., has won all the three events it has participated in JCA. The Premier League Championship was sponsored by Kanoo Group. The highlights of the final was the sterling performances by Sheikh Wahajuddin, who made 82 runs in 33 deliveries, and by Athar Abdul Quddus, who blasted 95 runs in 35 balls, and fine bowling by medium pacer Wajid Samdani (3-27) and left-arm spinner Faheem (3-37). Before the start of the match players and officials of both the teams were introduced to guests of honor Zafar Iqbal, Sports Editor of Urdu News, Nisar Ahmed, son of former Indian Test captain Ghulam Ahmed, and Syed Abdul Qadar Qasim, General Manager of Fatima Al-Aqqad Est. Hijaz-XI captain Talha Qulani who won the toss elected to bat first and the team tallied 262-5 in the allotted 20 overs. It suffered an early blow when the skipper mistimed a cover drive off the bowling of ICC's skipper Irfan Qureshi for just 4. But the other opener Sheikh Wahajuddin, a consistent performer, batted boldly for 82 off just 33 balls with the help of 10 fours and 5 sixes. One down Wahid Samdani contributed 25, the middle order batsman Athar Abdul Quddus, who has already two centuries in this tournament, missed another one by just 5 runs in just 35 deliveries. He hit 14 fours and 3 sixes in his strokeful innings. Hard hitting Ayaz made 16 while pinch hitter Naveed scored an unbeaten 14 off 6 balls. Irfan Qureshi, Mohammad Aslam Guddu, Zameer, Shakeel and Rafi claimed one wicket each for ICC. Barracuda ICC was bowled out for 193 in 19.5 overs and lost the match by 69 runs. Mohammad Aslam Guddu made the highest with 31. Uzair Khan scored 27, Mohammad Abid Pervez 27, Kaleem 19, Shakeel 17, Faraz 13, Farees 12 and Shareef 12. Irfan Qureshi made 11. Wajid Samdani, with his medium pacers, took 3-27, left-arm spinner Faheem claimed 3-37, right-arm Saeed Amoudi grabbed 2-26 and took two spectacular catches while medium pacer Sohail recorded 1-24.
