Hala to face Corniche for third place JEDDAH – Unbeaten Pakistan International School Jeddah – English Section (PISJ-ES) will lock horns with Al-Beladi International School in the final of the Under-14 Inter-School Cricket Championship for Johnson and Contraco Cup here Thursday. The championship, which is organized by Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA), is sponsored by Johnson Control and Contraco Group of Companies. In the semifinals, Al-Beladi won against Corniche International School by 17 runs whereas PISJ-ES downed Hala International School by 8 wickets. Hala Interntaional School, opting to bat first, put up 113-8 in the allotted 15 overs as Saad Salman batted with determination and concentration to remain unbeaten on 51 off 34 balls with 5 hits to the fence after his team lost 3 quick wickets. Abdul Wasay scored 16 in just 9 balls and Areeb hit 12. For PISJ-ES, Habib took 3-14 and Yahya 3-17. PISJ-ES responding to this tally achieved it in 11.2 overs (114-2) as Hasan remained not out on 38 in 21 balls with 6 hits to the ropes. He was well supported by Furqan who faced 24 balls to make 33 and Ismail scored 23 off 16. Saleh made 9 not out. Areeb of Hala took 1-44. In the other semifinal, Al-Beladi pulled off a fantastic victory against a good team, Corniche International School. Al-Beladi racked up 152-6 despite three tragic run outs. Sayam with the help of 5 fours stroked 54. Omer was run out for 26 with one six. Hasan hit 2 fours in 18. Captain Bilal Javed took 2-34 and Raza grabbed the other wicket for 14. Corniche, with more than 10 runs required per over to win, fell short by 17 runs as it was restricted to 135-7. Anas Malik played a gem of an innings of 73 not out in 31 balls with the help of 11 boundaries. Mohsin Waris hit 2 fours to compile 19. Jawad made 12 and Bilal Javed 11. Muteeb got 2-27, Hassan 2-31, Hamza 1-16 and Waleed 1-30. Corniche will sweat it out against Hala for the third place. __
