To promote Saudi culture and traditions, a one-day art exhibition organized at the house of artists – Jamjoum Center – showcased the works of 15 Saudi artists here this week. “We organized this exhibition for eight special guests from America with the aim of enhancing their knowledge of Saudi culture, tradition and the work of Saudi artists,” said Sami Al-Dosary, an artist and teacher of the Realism Studio Group, Zakharef Al-Asr and house of artists. “Different artists used abstracts, realism, sculptures, and portraits to emphasize their emotions and understating of Saudi culture, traditions and lifestyle. Through their artwork, people can have a view of Saudi Arabia,” he said. Al-Dosary explained the details of the artwork to the guests. Some well-known Saudi names in the field of art were represented in the exhibition. “Saudi culture and traditions are absolutely beautiful, although a bit different from the Western way of life. From a woman's perspective, it is different from the West, as women are respected here and it is believed that providing the means of life is essentially a man's job. It opened our eyes and made us understand that it is not a bad culture as some people in the West think,” said Brielle Gabriel, a member of the transport team at Cleveland Clinic in USA who came here along with seven other team members. The group is here attending a one-month medical care program for the royal family at the National Guard Hospital in Riyadh. “You really have to give it a chance, you can't judge a book by its cover. People should come over here and mingle with Saudis to learn more about Saudi Arabian lifestyle, traditions and culture,” Gabriel said.
