King Fahd International Airport (KFIA) won the Routes Airport Marketing Award in the Middle East category at the 8th Routes Asia Conference held in Adelaide, Australia last April 19-20, edging out Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Sharjah, the other shortlisted airports in this category. “KFIA's triumph in the Middle East category of the Routes Airport Marketing Award marks a significant milestone in our route development efforts,” said Engr. Khalid K. Almz'el, director general of KFIA. “We are happy that KFIA's excellent partnership with Changi Airports International is paying dividends, and that our combined marketing expertise is gaining world-wide recognition at international marketing forums.” The Routes Asia Conference is an airline/airport networking forum where network planners gather to discuss traffic development opportunities. Over 90 airports and 60 airlines participated at the 8th Routes Asia Conference in Adelaide this year. The Routes Airport Marketing Awards were established to promote excellence in marketing by airports to airlines. Airlines nominate their preferred airports using criteria such as the airport's marketing research and communications activities. The shortlisted airports in each respective region are then asked to submit a case study to support their nominations to a panel of industry experts who will select the winner.
