The world's first fair took place in Hyde Park in Crystal Palace, 1851. Crystal Palace, was a well-known landmark in London before it burnt down in 1936. The Paris Expo in 1889 is remembered most for the creation of the Eiffel Tower. Designed by French structural engineer Gustave Eiffel, the Eiffel Tower was built to celebrate the science and engineering achievements of the time. Buffalo's Expo in 1901 formed the site for the assassination of US President William Mckinley on Sept 6. The newly invented X-ray machine was also displayed there. __
