Justin Gatlin is gearing up for his last ditch-attempt to save his athletics career. The embattled sprinter will go before sport's highest court May 28-29 in New York. Gatlin wants a further reduction in a four-year doping ban to give him a chance to defend his Olympic 100-meter title at the Beijing Games. The US Olympic athletics trials are set for June 27-July 6 in Eugene, Oregon. “Our understanding is a ruling would come in time for him to attend the trials,” Gatlin's attorney, Maurice Suh, said. Suh spoke to reporters in a conference call Monday, the same day jury selection began in San Francisco for the trial of Gatlin's former coach Trevor Graham. “We don't have any reason at this juncture to believe that Justin will be part of the Trevor Graham trial,” Suh said. “There's no plan or indication that he will serve as a witness for the defense or prosecution.”
