XI beat strong Kanoo team by18 runs as Wajid Samdani hit an impressive 73 runs from 46 balls, Barracuda ICC won against ACE Travel by 72 runs in the semifinals of the Kanoo Cup Premier Division which is sponsored by Kanoo Group and organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association. Special umpires Kumar Krishnan, Waqar, Amjad Mehmood and Franky David officiated the knockout matches. Hijaz-XI, batting first, scored a respectable total of 212-7 in the allotted 20 overs against Kanoo cricketers. Reliable opening batsman Wajid Samdani hit a magnificent 73 in 46 balls with four boundaries and four sixes. In-form middle order batsman Athar Abdul Quddus made an useful 32, Imran and Afroz scored 19 runs each. Saleh Amoudi made 18. Left-arm fast bowler Kamran Khan took 2-44, right-arm fast bowler Shoukath 2-49 and Sami Khan 1-24. In return, Kanoo made 194-8 in 20 overs. Mohammad Arshad, who is the consistent batsman of Kanoo, made 50. Sami Khan with his stylish stroke play made 47, Junaid 26, Najam Uddin 24 and captain Majid Siddiqui 18. Fast bowler Imran claimed 3-37, while Wajid Samdani, Faheem, Naveed, Saeed Amoudi and Athar Abdul Quddus got one wicket each. Barracuda ICC, batting first, piled up a huge total of 266-4 in 20 overs against ACE Travel. Skipper Irfan Qureshi and Kaleem scored 61 runs each, Faraz 35, Zameer 34 and Uzair 30. Ishtiaq took 2 for 28 and Nayyar 1 for 40. ACE Travels could reach 194-9 in the allotted 20 overs. Its star batsman Akram Ullah Khan was out for just 3 runs, Saleem made 23, Ismail 25, Mukthar 46 and Farooq 13. Rafi claimed 2 for 19, while Irfan Qureshi, Rahil and Faraz grabbed one wicket each. __
