Electing to bat, Chennai posted 168 for five, thanks to Suresh Raina's unbeaten 57 and then restricted Mumbai to 146 for nine in a grand finale at the packed D. Y. Patil Stadium. MS Dhoni has added another feather to his captaincy hat. With Chennai struggling at 68 for 3 after 12 overs Dhoni got into the act: 100 runs were added in the last eight, and Raina scored 44 at a strike-rate of 200 after the first drop. Man of the Match Raina was dropped twice in the last six overs, and he moved from 13 off 13 to 57 off 35 to take Chennai to the highest total in an IPL final. Sachin Tendulkar, playing with a split webbing, played his least fluent innings of the tournament, scoring a labored 48 off 45. He was later adjudged as the Player of the Tournament.
