A fire broke out at a hotel in Al-Nuzha District in Makkah early Monday. Eight people suffered from smoke inhalation. The main Civil Defense Operation Room in Makkah received a call for help from the hotel management after a blaze broke out in one of the hotel's rooms. Six Civil Defense teams led by Brig. Jameel Arba'een, Director of the Civil Defense Administration in Makkah and Col. Salim Marzouq Al-Mattrafi rushed to the scene. The Civil Defense firemen found that a four-story building in the center of the crowded Al-Nuzha District was ablaze. The teams evacuated all 41 residents and treated eight persons for having inhaled toxic gases. Col. Ali Khadhran Al-Muntashiri, spokesman of the Civil Defense in Makkah, said that preliminary investigations show that there was no foul play involved. However, investigations will continue to find the cause of the fire, he said.
