Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAA) has increased the weight limit and the number of luggage items that passengers of various classes may check in on domestic flights. Mahdi Hassan, Saudia's Assistant Director for Land Operations, said the move permits First Class and Business Class passengers to check in two items of luggage, each weighing a maximum 25kg, compared to the previous total luggage limit of 40kg. Guest Class passengers are permitted one item weighing a maximum of 25kg, a five-kilogram raise on before, while Fursan Card clients are allowed one more item which should not exceed 25 kilos. Hassan said if any item of luggage weighs more than 25kg the owner will be asked to redistribute the contents of his or her luggage. “If the number of luggage items exceeds the permitted limit, the passenger will be asked to pay a fine of SR100 for each item over the limit,” Hassan said. “If the number is over the limit and their total weight is within limits, a SR200 fine will be applied to each item.”
