Ayoun Al-Badr, Shuraim, Thales claim RCA honors

Badr Cricket Club, Shuraim CC and Thales CC emerged champions in the 40-over Fuchs Super Cup, 20-over Premier Cup and 20-over Amateur Cup respectively during the 2009-2010 season of the Riyadh Cricket Association (RCA).
RCA organized the Fuchs tournaments wherein 36 teams fought for honors. During the finals which were attended by a big crowd, Red Bull distributed its drinks at the ground.
In a thrilling Amateur League final, Thales defeated Lahore Baadshah by 2 runs.
Opting to bat first, Thales made 164 runs in the allotted 20 overs.
Ali Ahmed played a splendid innings of 52, Intesaar Ali scored 29 and Mohammed Saleh 29. Irfan took 5-35 and Waseem claimed 4-16.
In reply, Lahore Badshah put up a good fight but fell short by 2 runs. Asim scored 55. He was well supported by Irfan 56 and Irfan Malik 18. Amjad Iqbal took 2-24 and Mohammed Zaigham 2-28.
Ali Ahmed was declared the Man of the Match.
In the Super League final, Ayoun Al-Badr thrashed Al-Eid by 93 runs. Al-Eid won the toss and elected to field first. But the man in form for Ayoun Al-Badr, Ejaz Shahid, smashed 98 with 12 boundaries to lift his team to 271 in 40 overs. Muzaffar Majeed contributed 71, Imran Iqbal 19, Dr. Ahmed 18 and Ahmad 15. For Al-Eid, Imran and Owais took 3 wickets each and Atif Badr claimed two.
In reply, Al Eid was all out for 178. Fakhar topscored with 49 . He was followed by Asif Zaki 42, Imran 18 and Suhail 15. Rizwan Manzoor and Abdulrehman took 3 wickets each and Abbas grabbed two.
Ejaz Shahid was adjudged as the Man of the Match.
In the Premier League final, Shuraim defeated Gamepro by 7 wickets. After winning the toss and electing to bat Gamepro was all out for 97 in 16.4 overs. Majid and Yougnand were the only batsmen who managed to tackle the rival bowlers and made 26 and 19 runs respectively. Amir took 3-23 and Abu Baker, Zafer, Kashif and Munir claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Shuraim achieved the target in 10.5 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Abu Baker scored 41, Waqas 17 and Mujahid 25. Yougnand took 2 wickets. The Man of the Match award went to Abu Baker.
During the prize distribution ceremony after the finals, guests, teams and spectators conveyed their condolences to RCA President Abdul Qadeer Mirza whose mother died recently. RCA Vice President Javed Munawar welcomed the guests. General Secretary Asif Sheikh presented RCA report.
The dignitaries who attended the ceremony were Fuchs Regional Manager Masood Ali Khan, Fuchs officials Zahoor Ahmed, Malik Akber, Zahid But, Thales HR Directors Gerry Robertson and Gean Francio.
Masood Ali Khan congratulated the winning teams, appreciated the performance of other teams and promised Fuchs support to RCA. RCA executive committee thanked Fuchs for sponsoring this tournament.
Abdul Qadeer Mirza thanked all the guests, teams and spectators. __
