Two doctors, a Saudi and an expatriate, have been banned from traveling outside the Kingdom after a citizen filed a complaint against them with the health authorities accusing them of medical negligence that resulted in the death of his 53-year-old mother. In his complaint, Abdul Rahman Al-Qahtani, said his mother was moved to a private hospital for gall bladder surgery. The woman died the day after the operation from “acute failure in the circulatory blood system and liquid retention in the lungs.” But Al-Qahtani alleged that his mother died because of the recklessness of the medical team which did not properly followed up the case. The claimant said he tried to approach the doctors who operated on his mother for more than 24 hours before her death but all his attempts were in vain. He said due to these reasons, he lodged a complaint with the Director General of the Directorate of Health Affairs in Asir who ordered an investigation into the case. Al-Qahtani said the director also issued orders banning the two doctors from traveling abroad and referred the case to the medical licenses department to look into the complaint urgently.
