The National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) has called for an agreement to allow for the exchange of prisoners between the Kingdom and Iraq so that prisoners can serve their terms in their own countries. Dr. Mufleh Al-Qahtani, Chairman of the NSHR, said a dossier on “Saudi prisoners in Iraq” is being considered by his organization. He said the matter has become more complicated because Saudi prisoners in Iraq are being held by three parties – the American forces, Kurdistan authorities and Iraqi forces. Recently the American forces handed over most of their Saudi prisoners. However a “blurred picture” remains on the total number of prisoners and where they are being detained.
