School Under-14 Johnson and Contraco Cup, organized by Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) being played on Thursday afternoons is approaching the knockout stage. Pakistan International School – English Section (PISJ-ES) has almost qualified for the knockout after winning all its league matches so far. This tournament is sponsored by Johnson Control and Contraco. During last week matches, Al-Beladi International School lost to PISJ-ES by 27 runs and Al-Falah DPS International School defeated Sri Lanka International School by 6 wickets. PISJ-ES, opting to bat first against Al-Beladi, racked up 133-5 in the stipulated 15 overs as Farooq Furkan made 18, Hasan 16, Yahya 11 and Habib 10. Umar of Al-Beladi took 3-20, Hassan 2-22 and Hamza 2-17. In response, Al-Beladi could get to only 106-4 and lost the encounter by 27 runs. Muteeb hit 34. Waleed and Zeeshan remained unbeaten on 32 and 12 respectively. Omar of PISJ scalped 2-15. Habib and Hassan grabbed one wicket each. In the other encounter, Sri Lankan International School deciding to use the track first, put up 111-6 in the allotted 15 overs against DPS Al-Falah International School through Minhaj 22, Danush 15 and Abi-V 10. Aiman, Abdullah, Ahmed, Yunus and Asad took one wicket each for DPS. Chasing 112 to win, DPS achieved the victory target by losing 4 wickets as Mohammed stroked 25, Abdullah 18, Fuawad 16 and Adnan 15 not out. Mihaj and Ammar claimed one wicket each for Sri Lankans. Abdullah Zahid, Faheem and Arshad Chohan were the umpires for the above matches. __
