Police arrested on Monday three persons accused of a series of thefts and car robberies conducted during Friday prayers in the south and west of the capital. The three were detained after patrols observed a vehicle with obscured license plates and when the driver refused to stop a pursuit followed which ended in the arrest of the driver while two passengers managed to flee on foot. Officers later located the pair in another vehicle which was found to contain numerous items including mobile telephones reported stolen during Friday prayer times.
