Eight British universities are participating in an education expo which was inaugurated here Monday at the Pakistan International School (English Section) by Abdul Salik Khan, Consul General of Pakistan. The expo is being organized in cooperation with the Pakistan Embassy in Riyadh. Marcus Gilbert, Director of British Council in Saudi Arabia's Western Region, said the expo is aimed at giving counseling and guidance to those who wish to study for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in UK universities. The members of the expo team provide information on admissions, registration, fees and scholarships. He said this was a unique opportunity for Pakistani expat students to have one-on-one discussions with university representatives. He added that British universities also offer courses and training facilities for teachers. Geoff Abbott, Admissions Tutor International Development of Cambridge and Chelmsford, said his institution offers courses in the Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Arts, Law and Social Sciences, Faculty of Health and Social Care and Faculty of Education. “We are also providing details of accommodation, on-campus support, tuition fees and scholarships,” he added. Sahar Kamran, Principal of PISJ (English Section), said her institution follows the Cambridge syllabus with the cooperation of the British Council. Only female students appear in external examination for Class VI, i.e., in the Cambridge Program. British O Level courses are being taught at high school and A Level courses are being followed by intermediate classes, she said.
