The Cabinet praised on Monday the Royal Order for the King Abdullah City Atomic and Renewable Energy saying that it would “boost development” and allow the Kingdom to “acquire the knowledge for the peaceful use of atomic energy.” The City would also, the Cabinet said, “produce the materials for the nation's medical and agricultural needs to be met”. Chairing the meeting, Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Defense and Aviation Minister and Inspector General, spoke of the Medical City whose construction has been ordered by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, at the Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain as a gift from the Saudi people to Bahrain, saying it would help improve medical services in the Gulf. The Crown Prince briefed the Cabinet members on talks between King Abdullah and Deputy Iraqi President Ahmad Bakr Al-Hashimi and other Iraqi leaders and reiterated the Kingdom's support for Iraq's stability and independence. Following the meeting, Yousuf Abdullah Al-Othaimeen, Minister of Social Affairs and Acting Minister of Culture and Information, said the Cabinet condemned Israeli expulsions of thousands of Palestinians from the occupied West Bank. He said the Cabinet regarded the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington, and the Kingdom's involvement in it, to prevent terrorists obtaining smuggled nuclear materials as “a step in the right direction”. The Cabinet also reiterated the Kingdom's position on the denuclearization of the Mideast and the Arabian Gulf in the interests of peace and security. Ministers also reviewed domestic issues, and authorized the Second Deputy Prime Minister to discuss with Indonesia a draft security cooperation agreement, and approved the appointment of Muhammad Bin Omran Al-Omran and Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Amaar to the Board of Directors of Saudi Arabian Railways Organization for three years. The Cabinet further authorized the minister of Higher Education or his deputy to sign a draft scientific cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Education in Finland.
