Ambassadors and diplomats of several countries and their families recently visited the Khurais mega-facility. Members of the diplomatic corps were accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headed by Deputy Minister for Protocol Affairs Allaadeen Al-Askari. They toured the facility as part of an official visit organized by Saudi Aramco and other government bodies. The diplomats were received by Abdulla I. Al-Isa, manager of Saudi Aramco Affairs in the Central Province; and Yousef A. Al-Furaidan, manager of the Khurais Producing Department, who also briefed them on Saudi Aramco's programs and activities. Al-Furaidan gave the guests an overview of the Khurais field, including a general introduction on the importance and capacity of the project, which is considered the largest development in the history of the oil industry and has the capacity to produce 1.2 million barrels of Arabian Light Crude per day. The ambassadors and guests also learned that the plant has the capacity to process 420 million standard cubic feet per day of associated gas and 70,000 bpd of condensate. The infrastructure includes oil pipelines, water injection and gas distribution facilities, an industrial complex for maintenance, an airstrip and residential accommodations for up to 1,200 employees, according to a latest report carried by Saudi Aramco's website. “The Kingdom is full of achievements,” said Admirim Banaj, Ambassador of the Republic of Albania. “We are very impressed with Saudi Aramco's vision, which spans successive generations,” he said. Sukanto Sukanto, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indonesian Embassy, said that the first time he visited Saudi Arabia was in 1989, when he came to perform Haj. “I am pleased to be here today to visit Saudi Aramco, and I thank Saudi Aramco for giving me this opportunity in which I discovered things that are beyond my imagination,” he said. Shigeru Endo, Ambassador of Japan, praised the hospitality he received and was grateful for the opportunity to learn about Khurais. “You have the right to be proud of Saudi Aramco for its achievement,” he said.
