An Arab resident was arrested in Jeddah on Friday on charges of forging university doctorate and master's degree certificates. The accused had been under surveillance for over 72 hours when police decided to send in an officer posing as a client seeking a doctorate from an American university. Having waited for three days as per the forger's instructions, the officer returned to purportedly pay the fee and gave the signal for a raid during which numerous copies of false certificates from recognized European and American universities were found. The man, who produced the certificates on a home computer, reportedly charged SR8,000 for a master's degree and SR10,000 for a doctorate.
