Leading scientists and top researchers from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) will present and discuss their current projects and their relevance and importance to the envisioned development targets of Saudi Arabia during the First KFUPM Research Day here on May 2. The scientists and researchers will present developments in their respective fields of specializations, such as renewable energy, water resources management, environment, refining and petrochemicals, nanotechnology, corrosion, building materials, laser technology, Arabic computing, power and electric energy, thermoelectric processes, applied mathematics, communications, and Islamic finance. The event is being organized by the KFUPM Deanship of Scientific Research (DSR). Dr. Mohammed Al-Homoud, chairman of the organizing committee of the event, said the research day aims to promote cooperation and collaboration between scientists, researchers and graduate students on one hand, and the private sector, on the other hand, in establishing sound foundations for partnership. He said participants and visitors during the research day will have the opportunity to meet scientists and researchers and possibly find common ground for collaboration. The event will also acquaint participants with research activities in the university in the strategic areas of national importance. The highlight of the event is the technical presentations of research studies to be followed by panel discussions and the participation of the audience. An exhibition of related products and services will also be held. Participants from private business and industrial sectors are also welcome, according to the organizers. – SGPresenters and their research studiesu Professor F. D.
