Despite repeated assurances by officials in Taif for putting an end to the water crisis in the Kingdom's summer resort citizens are still complaining about the drastic shortage in water supply, especially in the city's southern part. Citizens said they had been hearing for months about the end of the water crisis but all these assurances have yet to be fulfilled and they are still suffering from this crisis. Ironically, some of the citizens have been kept waiting for weeks to get their share of water while some districts get continued supplies, a matter that leaves them no choice but to buy water supplied by the water tankers at exorbitant price often ranging from SR400 to SR500. “Believe it or not I buy a tanker for SR500, five times the original price fixed by the government, Awad Al-Sawat, a distraught citizen, said. Another citizen Saud Al-Amari said: “When we enquire about share of water on the fixed day the officials immediately start assuring us that our share would be supplied but only this happens in their wildest dream.” Some senior citizens of the city have called upon the concerned officials to increase water supply and to distribute it equally among the subscribers besides finding a radical solution to the crisis. – Okaz __
