Work at the SR2.958 billion project for the expansion of Sa'y area in the Grand Mosque has gathered steam. A labor force of 3,000 is busy round-the-clock for a speedy completion of the project, said project in-charge Engineer Abdul Mohsin Abdul Rahman Bin Humaid. He said after the completion of this big project about 118,000 pilgrims would be able to perform Sa'y i.e. a brisk walk up and down seven times between As-Safa and Al-Marwah hillocks in an hour. The project is being undertaken by Presidency of the two Holy Mosque Affairs. After completion, the total area of “Masa'a” would become 87,000 thousand sq. meters as against 29,000 sq. meters earlier. The new expansion will also provide an additional space to 115,600 pilgrims, Bin Humaid said. It may involve more than two years for the final completion of the project, said Bin Humaid Ahmad Al-Mansouri, Chief Public Relations Officer of the two Holy Mosque Affairs said that by 5 May 5, 9,36,768 Umrah pilgrims have entered Makkah. Besides, he said, 389 delegations have visited the two Holy Mosques Exhibition at Umm Al-Jood. The exhibition showcases historic and rare acquisitions belonging to the two Holy Mosques. Individual visits to exhibition were 2,761 persons, he added. __
