Minister of Culture and Information, Iyad Bin Amin Madani, is to patronize the first round of the Saudi film contest staged at the hall of the Culture and Arts Association here on Tuesday. A short autobiographical film featuring producer Abdullah Al-Moheisen will be shown. Al-Moheisen, who is also the contest's guest of honor, will be awarded the contest's medal (the Golden Palm Tree). The event will close with the premiere of a film titled “Innocent Dream” produced by Bashir Al-Maheeshi. The committee responsible for organizing the contest announced that the event would also feature seminars and lectures, and a scenario workshop. According to the contest manager, the free shows will be open to the public. Special enclosures are there for women, he added. He said 34 Saudi films will be shown. Three short Arab films which won several awards will also be shown outside the contest and their producers will be invited to attend. __
